How can you learn online?
Many people have asked "how can you learn a martial art online?" which, bearing in mind the traditional hands on and personal nature of teaching Martial Arts, is a good and valid question.
Whilst not a perfect solution (not as good as learning in the presence of a teacher!), some of the obsticals usually associated with distance learning have been overcome with recent advances in computers and the internet.
Learning no longer needs to be a one way affair, with online video and social sites becoming the norm, people are becoming much more comfortable communicating online, through text, images and video.

Getting feedback from the teacher
By uploading videos of their progress, students can now get active and valid feedback of their progress (Assessments), and receive constructive criticism and instructions from their teachers who could be half a world away.
What is in the Syllabus?
The Muay Chaiya Syllabus is currently separated into 4 levels:
- Basic
- Beginner
- Intermediate
- Advanced
These levels represent your knowledge and skill in the art and correspond to the traditional approach to learning the style.
Each level contains text and video tutorials in:
- Techniques
Movement, mechanics, defensive and offensive techniques including look mai counter attack movements. - Combinations
A large resource of combinations that you can perform to help understand and become proficient in the style. - Drills
Shorter combinations more suited to bag, pad and partner work to help you gain practical awarness of distance and timing of techniques. - Self defense
Information about self-defense and use of Muay Chaiya in self-defense situations. - Fighting
For those of you who want to actively fight (MMA, Muay Thai, street) specific guidance can be found for using Muay Chaiya in different situations/ formats.
The syllabus closely follows the traditional way of teaching the style, in a consistent methodical manner. We are currently working on formalising this syllabus, with appropriate certificates of qualification in the style, including people who wish to become instructors and teach.
